This was an assignment job unlike any other i've done. I was chosen to be the still photogrqapher for the filming of a new gut wrenching independant film by Alessio Cappeletti about bigotry and racism in the late fifties/early sixties. I was lucky enough to work with some BRILLIANT young people, filled with passion for their art and a deep understanding of the world around them. So often people ask "what's wrong with kids today?". My response is to point them towards this amazing, dedicated crew of film-makers and show them exactly what's right! THANK YOU Alessio, and every-one involved, for bringing this story to life on the screen and for allowing me to be a part of the process. I'll see you at Cannes!!

Fire in St. Joseph Michigan

Fire on Montauk Ave, Misquamicut

The tone came in as "working structure fire, kids jumping from the windows"....what more can i say? My husband responded immediatly to the station, I told him I'd meet him at the scene. I had to find a sitter for our grandson first.
Ambulances, emergency vehicles, police cars all went speeding past my house, and when at last I arrived on scene, all i could see was smoke billowing over the neighborhood.
Misquamicut and Watch Hill fire dept.'s were there, already enmassed in and around the building. Water lines ran from all directions, and after 40 harrowing minutes, the fire was out.The cause is still unknown.
As a post script, the "kids" were in fact young adults, in their late teens/early twenties, and all escaped unharmed.
The building they say went up in total flames in a matter of moments. One minute the smoke detectors were going off, and the next the house was completely engulfed. My ffavorite 'series' of pictures here is the window billowing and buckling from the heat, just before it blew out!
Again, team work between Misquamicut & Watch Hill is to be praised. See the pictures of each one helping the next exchange air bottles and you will understand, and teams from both departments on hoses and entering the building.
They are, again, to be commended for their bravery and comradery.

I wanted to show you the scope & versitility of my work, so i chose shots taken over the past few years, spanning from here in America accross the Atlantic to parts of Europe and the Mediteranian. Only a few are Photoshopped, and those are easy to spot. But don't be fooled by the 'reflection' photos of the mills and cars. None of those are retouched in anyway except as usually done in a darkroom.
